Technical Meeting: Preventing Slips, Trips, Falls – Going Beyond Doing the Same Things To Achieve Real Results

Join the ASSP’s GREATER DETROIT CHAPTER for a meeting on how to finally address slips, trips and falls.  This Lunch & Learn will provide fresh insight on one of the most common hazards in workplaces from Robert Pater (MA), Founder/Managing Director of the MoveSMART® system for significantly reducing STF and soft-tissue injuries while simultaneously elevating Safety culture. Robert is a widely published professional who serves global clients including American Airlines, BorgWarner, Honda, and US Steel. This facilitation will be available virtually on Zoom.

DATE:  Tuesday, June 4th

TIME:  12:00pm – 1:00pm

COST:  Free

PRESENTATION TOPIC: Preventing Slips, Trips, Falls: Going Beyond Doing the Same Things To Achieve Real Results

Well here we are. Again. Despite so many organizations expending so much time, attention and resources over so many decades, slips, trips and falls (STF) still stubbornly and pervasively persist. And ironically, despite Safety leadership creatively evolving in other arenas, companies have reflexively approached these persistent injury sources with relatively minor variations on the same old themes. Basically, singing the same song only with slightly varied lyrics, while vaguely hoping to realize resounding results.

This short seminar is designed to offer practical, proven strategies for actually preventing slips, trips and falls in the real world. Methods that must work in a wide array of conditions and environments, a range of people – after all, everyone is potentially prone to slipping and tripping, everywhere! – at work and at home.

View a 2-minute overview of what you can expect here.

After attending this event, attendees will be able to:

  • Examine how to achieve greater balance external and internal strategies (going beyond the frustration of trying to control the uncontrollable)
  • Overview critical questions to consider towards upgrading STF prevention
  • Influence leadership to more actively support a STF safety culture
  • Move from a “prevention” mindset to a “performance” one
  • Better understand how to communicate the chicken-and-egg relationship between STF and Soft-Tissue Safety

FACILITATOR: Robert Pater (MA), MoveSMART® Founder and Managing Director

VIRTUAL ATTENDEES:  A Zoom link will be provided to registrants prior to the event
